Buy back & resell

Do you have IKEA furniture that’s an oldie, but it's still a goodie and looking to retire it? We’ll buy it back and you help pave the way toward sustainable living. By finding your furniture a new home, we are making the things we love last longer.

How it works:

Please bring a copy of your quote, buyback number and your fully assembled furniture to your participating IKEA store where a co-worker will assess your furniture’s buy back value in person. Why does IKEA want my buy back product?

At IKEA, we are continuously exploring new ways to make the things we love last longer. By giving your product a new life and a new home, we hope to make sustainability affordable and convenient for the many people.

How will I know how much my sell back is worth?

All products are reviewed based on condition, age and functionality. When you complete the online form, you will receive an initial email quote based on the information you provided – bring it with your fully assembled product to your participating IKEA Exchanges & returns. Once inside, check-in and a co-worker will review your product once again in-person to confirm the condition.

Do I have to fill out the online form or can I just show up?

You will need to fill out the online form and receive a quote in order to sell back your product prior to coming in store for the sell-back. You can only bring your sell-back furniture to a participating IKEA store.

What happens if I’m not happy with the evaluation of my product?

All products are reviewed based on condition, age and functionality. However, if our assessment of your IKEA product does not fit with the information you provided on the online form or you’re not happy with our online or in-store buy-back offer, there is no requirement to continue with the buy back transaction.

What happens if a product is unable to be re-sold?

There are times where we cannot buy back your product because we cannot resell it. You may take the product back home with you. Or if you choose not to participate in the Buy back & resell program and do not want to return it to your home, IKEA may recycle or dispose of it according to our zero waste-to-landfill policy.
